You've hit the target with this essay. I have always believed that story is the most important thing to human beings. We build our personal psyches, our family histories, our cultures, our religions, and our governments on the stories we weave and share with each other. Siblings in a family will often have radically different views of their childhood years based on the stories they have woven for themselves and for others from whom they want love, admiration, fear, etc. Each religion has a story which the worshippers must accept if they are true believers. Every government has woven the tale of its nation to suit its aims and beliefs and those who are governed are spoon-fed that story. If we were only aware that our lives are composed of remembered events, sculpted to our personal needs and desires, packaged in the most "consumer-friendly" way, and shared with those we hope to influence, we might be able to do a little editing of the story and adjust our perspective and direction in life.

The story is everything!

I'm enjoying these posts. Things are a little hectic right now, or I'd post a more detailed comment. But I wanted you to know it's not just the spammers reading this.

Hi Molly,

Outstanding advice. Two days ago a friend sent me Warren's picture from Facebook and it made me think of you. My best to Warren!

Balboa Press is publishing my first book, The Gifted One: The Journey Begins. It's a self help book in novel form and I wanted to email it to you; however, there is no email address.

My guess is Dev must be in his mid-twenties? Wow!
I hope you're having fun and, if you have time, call 201-401-4227 or email.

Best wishes,
Andy

Be patient! You'll build up a readership. First, you have to let people know this is here. And you have to get this linked to other writer blogs. One hand washes the other, reciprocity, that short of jazz.

And when your book is published, it ought to mention your website somewhere, in your bio or on the dedication page.

Part of this is a reaction to the adenaline rush from almost dying-or thinking you were-the effect on the body is the same
we all have trouble understanding some things til they happen to us in some form--abdominal surgery comes to my mind because my mother had had several but until I had one I had NO CLUE how badly it hurts and how sick you really are--you THINK you know but you don't really--it isn;t a matter of being unkind or unfeeling-just that it takes first hand experience sometimes to really GET it--emotional as well as physical hurts
been divorced 4 times myself so I'm fairly well-versed in that one LOL-the only one that really did me in was the first one--took me years after that to even date and I was only 19-that can be arough one and it would be even worse if your work was entwined with the marriage-fortunately mine was not
run on long enough here-and this comment is real not spam LOL

Good entry. I'm mainly leaving this, though, so you can see what I mean. I put Destroyerclub in as my website and if you click on my name, you'd be sent there.
